Das ist der euphorische Gedanke, der uns am Ende unserer Teenager Jahre kommt: Ich bin anders! Aus diesem Gedanken hat Luca Guadagnino einen makabren Horror Film gemacht. Ein Emo Abenteuer voller Ekel und Abscheu, eine Geschichte über junge, verbotene Liebe. Am Ende aber dient Bones And All vor allem als Parabel für jenen Gedanken: Ich bin anders. Wir befinden uns am Ende der Reagan Ära. Das war Ende der 80er als es noch keine DNA Analyse gab. Taylor Russell spielt Maren. sie ist schüchtern und klug und gerade an eine neue Schule gekommen. Mit ihrem Vater lebt Maren am Rande der Armut. Doch sie findet Freundinnen und wird zu einer Pyjama Party eingeladen. Die Stimmung der feuchten mädchenhaften Intimität muss Maren wohl erregt haben. Es geschieht dass, was niemand voraus sehen kann: Maren beisst jemandem den Finger ab und isst ihn. Maren ist in Wirklichkeit eine Kannibalin. Es war ihr Sucht-Zwang, der sie und ihren Vater so lange auf der Flucht hielt. An ihrem 18. Geburtstag verlässt der Vater Maren. Um heraus zu finden, wer sie ist und weshalb sie das tut, macht sich Maren auf, die Mutter zu finden... Ein Road Movie beginnt und auf ihrem Weg findet Maren heraus, dass es noch andere Kannibalen gibt. Sie nennen sich Eaters oder Feeders und leben nach dem Credo, niemals einen der ihren zu fressen. Von ihnen erfährt Maren von der ultimativen Erfahrung: Einen Menschen mit Haut und Knochen zu essen. Komplett. Dann verliebt sie sich in den zarten und schönen Ausreisser Lee ( Timothée Chalamet) und sie ist entsetzt über das, was Lee bereit ist, zu tun. Genauso entsetzt reagiert Maren als sie mehr über ihre Mutter erfährt. Doch irgendwie gelingt es Maren und Lee, ein gemeinsames Leben in der heterosexuellen Welt zu führen. Wäre das nicht dieser dunkle Schatten. Sully, ein Freeder... Bones And All handelt der Unbarmherzigkeit des Überlebens, von Armut und Obdachlosigkeit und von Rebellion. Das ist beängstigend und eklig, denn Rebellion heisst wiederum nichts anderes als Kannibalismus. - This is the euphoric thought that comes to us at the end of our teenage years: I am different! Luca Guadagnino has turned this thought into a macabre horror film. An emo adventure full of disgust and revulsion, a story about young, forbidden love. They call themselves Eaters or Feeders and live by the credo never to eat one of their own. From them, Maren learns about the ultimate experience: eating a human being skin and bones. Completely. Then she falls in love with the tender and beautiful outlier Lee ( Timothée Chalamet) and she is horrified by what Lee is willing to do. Maren is equally horrified when she learns more about her mother. Yet somehow Maren and Lee manage to live a life together in the heterosexual world. If it weren't for that dark shadow. Sully, a freeder... Bones And All is about the ruthlessness of survival, about poverty and homelessness and rebellion. This is frightening and disgusting, because rebellion in turn means nothing other than cannibalism.
