- Michael Klier, one of the chroniclers of the GDR, but also a café guest with us. Here he introduces us to a family. Five siblings, two women, three men. Ginnie (Lilith Stangenberg) is mentally handicapped. She has to go to the home. Heli (Jördis Triebel) took care of Ginnie for years. Now she wants to have time for her own life. All these years the brothers were no help. Now they have come to say goodbye. They are in their early 30s to early 40s. Quite average types. But who are now the "idiots" Ginnie definitely not. Bruno (Florian Stetter) speaks in a vain, arrogant way for the weak of society. A ridiculous lecture. Tommy (Hanno Knoffler) is a jazz musician, apparently a loose type. Frederick (Kai Scheve) Papa's darling. There is a bit of them in each of us. Of course each of them wants to spare Ginnie the home. But who will draw the consequences? And Ginnie herself? She is rough, unpredictable. A fascinating stranger. Beyond all norms. And she loves sex, has a boyfriend (a provocation for the siblings). Would she be a "quite normal" and "nice" disabled. Yes, then she could easily be integrated into bourgeois life. But what if this Ginnie doesn't behave? This is how we can understand the brothers' arguments. I'll translate: Doesn't she have to ascribe all the consequences to herself? It seems as if Michael Klier had given himself some uncomfortable thoughts over his coffee.
