FREE ON YOUTUBE (DU FINDEST DEN GANZEN FILM FREI AUF YOUTUBE) Natürlich gab es "Indie" Filme schon immer. Little Fugitive: “Our New Wave would never have come into being, if it hadn’t been for the young American, Morris Engel who showed us the way with his production, Little Fugitive.” So einfach! So charmant! Kein Hochglanz Produkt. - FREE ON YOUTUBE Of course there have always been "Indie" movies. Those that showed life beyond the Hollywood industry what it must have been like. No one less than Francois-Truffaut recognized this early in a review of Little Fugitive: "Our New Wave would never have come into being, if it hadn't been for the young American, Morris Engel who showed us the way with his production, Little Fugitive." He's right. Would there ever have been "The-400-Blows" without the prebid of Morris Angel Little Fugitive? Staged outside on the streets without stars or a significant budget. If you want to understand the principles of the Nouvelle Vague, take a look at Little Fugitive! It's the story of seven-year-old Joey (Richie Andrusco) who thinks he killed his older brother Lennie (Rickie Brewster) and runs away to Coney Island. Joey is on the run, while the supposedly dead Lennie is desperately looking for his little brother. So simple! So charming! So charming! And then take a look at the New York of the 50s, with how many details it is presented here! Isn't it like a short vacation to a completely different time? Engel captures the supposedly small moments: a view from the promenade. A summer storm that sweeps the beach of Coney Island empty. Little Fugitive is one of those films I wanted to see again! Please don't be deterred by the unaesthetic DVD cover. After all, Little Fugitive is a real "indie" that has been pressed in small quantities. Not a high gloss product.
