"Forgive Me for Being Born", steht mit roter Kreide an der Wand geschrieben... und was geschah dann in unserer Videothek? Helle Aufregung! Also phantastischer Filme aus Japan. - FREE ON YOUTUBE You find the body of a woman by the river, all bloated up. Young Sho, a lazybones, is forced by his father to clean the flat of the dead, his aunt. Actually, Sho didn't even know it existed. Then he finds a photo of the aunt. "Forgive Me for Being Born", is written with red chalk on the wall... and what happened in our video store? Bright excitement! Because finally the legendary Memories Of Matsuko was released on DVD! We ordered the first version via YesAsia, a Hong Kong distributor, later a German version came out. I remember the Hong Kong order mainly because it got stuck in customs. Note: Everything that costs more than 21 Euro and comes from the EU abroad stays there in Schöneberg. So let's go to Schöneberg. Wait one afternoon (while the customs officers play eBay etc. motionless). Then the unfriendly man from customs: What's in there? It costs customs duties and also VAT. Nobody should claim afterwards that I didn't give everything for Memories Of Matsuko! For a Japanese "Amelie" variant in the atmosphere of "Kamikaze Girls" or "Survive Style 5+". So fantastic movies from Japan. And the more Sho finds out about his aunt Matsuko, the more likeable she seems. Shapes like a Porn Queen, a Punk or a policeman cross his path, tell him something from his aunt's past. At some point this all results in an almost complete picture of Matsuo's life, which Shos father describes as "senseless"...
