FREE ON YOUTUBE (DU FINDEST DEN GANZEN FILM FREI AUF YOUTUBE) Guy Ritchie im Pech. - FREE ON YOUTUBE Guy Ritchie's out of luck. With "The Gentlemen" he finds his way back to old form, but unfortunately his last movie has to be released in the cinema with the public excluded. Because of the Corona crisis. That's why I posted Revolver from 2005, a pretty crazy movie that costs a lot of nerves! Can I structure all this chaos of plot in my head? Can I find my way in a thriller without "Thrill"? Flashbacks, flashbacks, scenes that are constructed and then deconstructed - and then subtitles and inserted messages. That's how Ritchie's cinema worked for years. It's called "tarantinoesque". But can he create as extraordinary characters and witty dialogues as the original "Tarantino"? Here is an attempt to retell the plot: Jake Green (Jason Statham) did seven years in prison. After his release he marches straight into the casino of his old enemy Dorothy Macha (Ray Liotta) and wins a fortune. Did he cheat? Didn't he? Dorothy puts a couple of hit men on his tail. But again and again, two mysterious strangers (one of whom is playing chess) show up to save Jake's life... Ritchie's dialogues, which run through the whole movie, sound like Buddhism light. This may sound like pure reason, but it borders on hopeless confusion. Revolver is more of a string of scene sequences and always lands on "go". Fortunately, the actors are better than the movie. And even the movie's material is better than the result. This is because of the many cuts and gimmicks. Or simply because of my age. In any case, I was happy when the credits started and had a great desire to just throw the DVD in the trash. But then I remembered my mission. As a video store owner I have to make ALL Guy Ritchie films available, because without a doubt this British "Tarantino" has already achieved great things. And from one of the greats you have to watch the bad movies, too. You have enough time during the Corona epidemic to realize such projects: Find the good in Revolver. (P.S. in our video store you are welcome to borrow Revolver from us, by the way; it's probably because of my age that I didn't understand what was happening in front of my eyes).
