New Hampshire, sondern in New York. - With the film adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's novel, Greta Gerwig now gets her director's box in our video store. Apart from early Mumblecore productions as co-director, this is only her second film, but she has long since earned it! How many film adaptations of Little Women have been made before? But one thing is clear; Gerwig can compete with them! And Gerwig has always been an "auteur", not only in her semi-biographical first film. It's about the resilience of women and camaraderie (among women). Here she even gains her very own authority over the novel by simply rearranging the sections of the story. A feeling of remembrance and nostalgia spreads and for those who have read the book several times before, the flashbacks should be especially interesting. It tells the story of the sisters Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth. The rebellious Jo (Saoirse Ronan) no longer lives in New Hampshire, but in New York. There she pursues her dream of becoming a writer. Amy (Florence Pugh) is artistically inclined and probably belongs more to Europe than to America. And then there's Emma Watson's Meg, who marries for love and doesn't care about financial gain. In small steps we experience the history of this clan from Massachusetts. Gerwig turns it into a nice cuddly movie for this cold season. Get under the covers with a cup of tea for a video night with good friends!
