Hier kommt ein Film über eine Frau aus der rheinischen Provinz, die versucht, ihre Mutter würdevoll zu verabschieden. Es beginnt mit einem letzten tiefen Seufzer der Mutter und wohl auch mit einem von der Tochter. Sie haben es überstanden, beide. Doch nun folgt die Organisation des Todes. Die Abwicklung eines Lebens nach bürokratischen Vorgaben. Genau davon handelt Sechswochenamt. Jaqueline Jansen produzierte ihr Debüt unabhängig, was mir immer gut gefällt, denn so blieben ihr bürokratische Hindernisse erspart. Ganz anders als im Film, denn der Tod der Mutter fällt in die Corona Pandemie und langsam lernen wir, dass sie wohl alles andere als konform gelebt haben muss. So erklärt sich bestimmt auch die Distanz der Oma als auch der Schwester. Sechswochenamt betrachtet ganz genau jede Etappe der Trauer. Untersucht werden die widersprüchlichen Emotionen, die Abgründe. Ganz am Ende ihrer selbst organisierten Trauerfeier seufzt die Tochter wieder. Diesmal aber bedeutet es ein JA zum Leben! - Here is a film about a woman from the Rhineland countryside who is trying to bid her mother a dignified farewell. It begins with a final deep sigh from the mother – and presumably one from the daughter too. They’ve both made it through. But now comes the business of organising the funeral. Winding up a life according to bureaucratic guidelines. That is precisely what *Sechswochenamt* is about. Jaqueline Jansen produced her debut independently, which I always appreciate, as it meant she was spared bureaucratic hindrances. It’s quite different from the film, because the mother’s death occurs during the Covid-19 pandemic, and we gradually come to realise that she must have led a life that was anything but conventional. This certainly explains the distance shown by both the grandmother and the sister. *Sechswochenamt* examines every stage of the grieving process in great detail. It explores the conflicting emotions and the depths of despair. Right at the end of the funeral she organised herself, the daughter sighs once more. This time, however, it signifies a YES to life!
