Hier kommt eine nüchterne Neu-Verfilmung von Jane Austens Sense and Sensibility, die sich weder von Ang Lees Verfilmung, noch vom Original Roman einschüchtern lassen muss. Denn wozu sind schon heilige Kühe da? Diese Version ist viel melancholischer, nachdenklicher. Die Atmosphäre ist düsterer. Im Mittelpunkt Elinor and Marianne (Daisy Edgar-Jones und Esmé Creed-Miles) wirken fast so wie Frauen aus irgendeiner WG. Es ist die Geschichte einer romantischen und finanziellen Krise, denn die Schwestern und ihre Mutter sind gezwungen, aus Sussex ins bescheidene Barton Cottage umzuziehen (der Stiefsohn erbte das Anwesen und vertrieb sie praktisch). Zuvor aber verliebt sich Elinor in den jungen Edward Ferrars, der aus einer wohlhabenden und angesehenen Familie kommt. It's a story of romantic and financial crisis, as the sisters and their mother are forced to move from Sussex to the modest Barton Cottage (their stepson inherited the property and practically evicted them). Beforehand, however, Elinor falls in love with the young Edward Ferrars, who comes from a wealthy and respected family. Now, in the wilderness of Barton Cottage, Elinor broods over why Edward hasn't proposed to her...
