Trailer
Was sollen wir davon halten? All das will nie passen. - Action Jackson is a belated blaxploitation film in which the trailer and some scenes are great, but nothing fits together and much also stinks to high heaven. At one point a policeman runs away from a taxi. Then a bad guy shoots his wife in the stomach (before and after he kisses her). What are we to make of this? Is this a sadistic comedy or what is it all about? Carl Weathers plays Jericho "Action" Jackson, a Detroit cop (possibly a colleague of Axel F.?). He is dismissed from the force - we never understand why. In any case, he has a long-time enemy, car manufacturer Peter Dellaplane (Craig T. Nelson), whom he suspects of multiple murders. The creep not only has his wife, whom he shoots in the stomach while kissing her, but also a mistress (Prince's girlfriend Vanity). She, in turn, he gets hooked on heroin. Action Jackson begins, of course, with action (in which the killers can appear and disappear at will). As the plot progresses, Action Jackson seems to develop superpowers, for example running at 80 km/h and then again we see realistic dirty police precincts. Sometimes the film is funny, then incredibly violent. All this never wants to fit. Or is it normal in comedies for people to burn alive? Carl Weathers can do exactly one facial expression. So he is played smoothly against the wall by vanity. She has the screen presence he lacks. Who knows, maybe Action Jackson was supposed to become a series back then? Maybe it would have been better to give Vanity the lead role and actually create a franchise?
