Er war der brillianteste, einflussreichste Filmemacher seiner Zeit und wird auch jetzt noch permanent von euch geliehen. Und: Die Mehrheit der Zuschauer wird seine Filme auch heute noch nicht leicht verdauen! Wen wunderts, ist Godard doch ein schwieriger Filmemacher, tief in seinem eigenen Universum befangen. Um "traditionelle" Filme hat sich kaum jemand weniger gekümmert als Godard. Er verlangt dagegen, dass wir partizipieren, seinen Filmen unsere volle Aufmerksamkeit schenken. Dummerweise ist das Publikum aber lieber faul. Einfach zurücklehnen, einen Film sehen, eintauchen. Der Film wird den Rest dann schon erledigen. Mit jedem Jahrzehnt erfüllte Godard dieses Verlangen weniger. Bande A Part ist ein Genre Film geworden. Ist es? Die Heldin heisst Odile (Anna Karina) und am liebsten rast sie mit ihren Freunden Arthur (Claude Brasseur) und Franz (Sami Frey) durch die Gegend. Ob im offenen Cabrio mitten im Winter oder durch den Louvre in Rekordzeit. Die Narration, Godard sprengt sie munter Einstellung für Einstellung in die Luft. Voice Overs (von ihm selbst gesprochen), Extravaganzen, Löcher. All das hält das Geschehen nicht zusammen, auch nicht der vermeintlich allwissende Erzähler. Ein Film, der im Laufen gedreht wurde in nur 25 Tagen. Bewegung, Bewegung, Bewegung und dann wird der Ton im Cafe Madison einfach weggeblendet. Es geht um Shakespeare, Liebe und Tod. Kahle Bäume ragen in den Himmel, der schwarzweiss ist, aber ein Zentrum gibts nicht in Bande A Part. Nachdem Godard nun also mit uns gemacht hat, was immer er wollte, spendiert er noch ein lächerliches Ende. Dabei ist doch Bande A Part einer seiner frühen "Publikumsfilme"! - He was the most brilliant, influential filmmaker of his time and is still permanently borrowed from you. And: The majority of the viewers won't digest his films easily even today! Not surprisingly, Godard is a difficult filmmaker, deeply caught in his own universe. Hardly anyone has cared less about "traditional" films than Godard. On the other hand, he demands that we participate, give his films our full attention. Unfortunately, the audience prefers to be lazy. Just sit back, watch a movie, dive in. The movie will take care of the rest. With every decade Godard fulfilled this desire less. Bande A Part has become a genre film. Is it? The heroine's name is Odile (Anna Karina) and she loves to race around with her friends Arthur (Claude Brasseur) and Franz (Sami Frey). Whether in an open convertible in the middle of winter or through the Louvre in record time. The narration, Godard blows them up cheerfully attitude by attitude. Voice overs (spoken by himself), extravagances, holes. All this does not hold the events together, not even the supposedly omniscient narrator. A film that was shot in only 25 days. Movement, movement, movement and then the sound in Cafe Madison simply fades away. It's about Shakespeare, love and death. Bald trees rise into the sky, which is black and white, but there is no center in Bande A Part. So now that Godard has done whatever he wants with us, he's giving us a ridiculous ending. Yet Bande A is part of one of his early "audience films"!
