Eine Handlung mit doppeltem Boden! Diabolique spielt auf einem französischen Jungs Internat. Geleitet wird es von dem sadistischen Michael Delasalle (Paul Meurisse), der verfaulten Fisch für seine Zöglinge serviert und seine Frau Christina (Vera Clouzot) schlägt (obwohl eigentlich SIE die Inhaberin der Schule ist). Die Jungen hassen Michael, die Lehrer verachten ihn. Ganz besonders Nicole (Simone Signoret), die noch vor kurzem Michaels Geliebte war. Doch Nicole hat einen Plan und Christina weihte sie bereits ein. Zusammengefasst sieht der Plan kein Happy Ending für Michael vor. Das ist kein Spoiler, da es sich nicht um die Kernhandlung handelt. Die Kernhandlung soll erst beginnen. Denn Michael bzw. dessen Leiche ist verschwunden... Bitte verrate das Ende niemals niemandem, wenn du Diabolique gesehen hast. Das ist einer der tollsten Kriminalfilme, die ich kenne! Und Inspektor Fichet (Charles Vanel) dient als das grosse Vorbild für alle nachfolgenden Ermittler im Trenchcoat. Du weisst schon; die Ermittler, die so träge wirken, aber ganz wache Augen haben. Die sich im Gehen umdrehen, um eine letzte Frage zu stellen (die scheinbar gar nicht wichtig ist). So einer ist Fichet. Ein Mann im abgetragenen Regenmantel, der schlurft, auf seiner Zigarre kaut und scheinbar zusammenhangslose Fragen stellt. Am liebsten wiederholt er die Fragen, tut so, als hätte er die Antwort überhört. Wenn du Diabolique zwei Mal ansiehst, entdeckst du sogar noch eine beunruhigende Ebene und darfst dir ziemlich sicher sein, dass einige der Lehrer besser ins Gefängnis gehörten. Signoret stand damals in der Blüte ihres Star-Ruhms. DAS französische Pinup schlechthin! Gibt es eine lesbische Beziehung zwischen Nicole und der unscheinbaren Christina? In jedem Fall ist die Beziehung von Christina und ihrem Mann so verdorben, dass man ihm alles nur Erdenkliche Schlechte wünscht. Und ich weiss nicht, ob Missbrauch überhaupt in einem anderen Film der 50er so explizit dargestellt wird? Das Dumme am Film; du wirst anschliessend Angst davor haben, zu baden. Wie wärs stattdessen mit einer Dusche? Ach nein, da war doch was... - A plot with a false bottom! Diabolique is set in a French boys' boarding school. It is directed by the sadistic Michael Delasalle (Paul Meurisse), who serves rotten fish to his pupils and beats his wife Christina (Vera Clouzot) (although actually SHE is the owner of the school). The boys hate Michael, the teachers despise him. Especially Nicole (Simone Signoret), who was Michael's lover until recently. But Nicole has a plan and Christina already told her. In summary, the plan doesn't have a happy ending for Michael. This is not a spoiler, as it is not the main plot. The main plot is just about to begin. Because Michael, or rather his body, has disappeared... Please don't ever tell anyone the ending after you see Diabolique. This is one of the greatest mystery films I've ever seen. And Inspector Fichet (Charles Vanel) serves as the great role model for all following investigators in trenchcoats. You know; the investigators who seem so lazy but have alert eyes. Who turn around while walking to ask one last question (which doesn't seem to matter at all). Fichet is one of those. A man in a worn-out raincoat who shuffles, chews on his cigar and asks seemingly unrelated questions. He prefers to repeat the questions, pretending not to have heard the answer. If you look at Diabolique twice, you'll discover an even more disturbing level and you can be pretty sure that some of the teachers belonged better in prison. Signoret was in the prime of her star fame at the time. THE French pinup par excellence! Is there a lesbian relationship between Nicole and the unimposing Christina? In any case, the relationship between Christina and her husband is so rotten that one wishes him all the worst. And I don't know if abuse is even depicted so explicitly in another film of the 50s? The stupid thing about the film; you will be afraid to take a bath afterwards. How about a shower instead? Oh no, there was something...
