Nach einer Schädel-Verletzung sind seine Platten noch nicht wieder zusammen gewachsen... David Gordon Greene hat einen echten Independent Film gemacht und auch noch einen der allerbesten unserer Zeit! Er trifft die Tonart der besten New Hollywood Filme, ruhig, intensiv; es geht um Erinnerung und Bedauern. I went into raptures! We're right in the middle of it. The kids in the poor neighborhoods, hanging out together, passing the time. These are quiet days and yet a tragedy can happen at any time... We are in the industrial landscape outside the city, where the weeds break through the asphalt. North Carolina. Some black kids and a few white kids are playing there. Buddy (Curtis Cotton III) has a crush on Nasia (Candace Evanofski). She leaves him for George (Donald Holden). This is important because it's her first crush and the first goodbye in her life. Buddy asks her for one last kiss. George has his own problems. After a skull injury, his plates have not yet grown back together... David Gordon Greene has made a real independent movie and one of the very best of our time! It strikes the tone of the best New Hollywood films, quiet, intense; it's about memory and regret. Never again will there be a summer so deeply felt.
