Hier kommt ein Drama, das wie ein Werbespot wirkt mit dem Tiefgang einer Grusswortkarte. Ein Film, der mit praktisch jeder Emotion handelt, ohne selbst eine echte zu erzeugen. Dabei wird die Kamera an einem Ort platziert, um alle Ereignisse dort im Laufe der Geschichte zu portraitieren. Das Aussterben der Dinosaurier, das Leben der amerikanischen Ureinwohner, Benjamin Franklin usw. usw. Der Ort wird zum Wohnzimmer eines Doppelhauses im 20. Jahrhundert, schliesslich wird dort eine der revolutionärsten Erfindungen des vergangenen Jahrhunderts geboren. Nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg wird das Haus vom Soldaten Al Young (Paul Bettany) und seiner Frau Rose (Kelly Reilly) gekauft. Sie ziehen drei Kinder auf. Eines - Richard (Tom Hanks) - träumt davon, Künstler zu werden. Daraus wird nichts, stattdessen schwängert er seine Highschool Liebe Margaret (Robin Wright) und Richard wird Versicherungs-Vertreter. Wir merken, mit Here versucht Regisseur Robert Zemeckis an Forrest Gump (DVD2755) anzuknüpfen. Obwohl das Team des Vorbildes weitgehend auch an Here gearbeitet hat, fehlen zwei wesentliche Zutaten von Forrest Gump: Eine fesselnde Geschichte und ein dunkler humorvoller Unterton. - Here comes a drama that looks like a commercial with the depth of a greeting card. A movie that deals with practically every emotion without creating any real one itself. The camera is placed in one location to portray all the events that take place there over the course of the story. The extinction of the dinosaurs, the life of the Native Americans, Benjamin Franklin etc. etc. The place becomes the living room of a semi-detached house in the 20th century, eventually giving birth to one of the most revolutionary inventions of the past century. After the Second World War, the house is bought by soldier Al Young (Paul Bettany) and his wife Rose (Kelly Reilly). They raise three children. One - Richard (Tom Hanks) - dreams of becoming an artist. Instead, he impregnates his high school sweetheart Margaret (Robin Wright) and Richard becomes an insurance salesman. We realize that with Here, director Robert Zemeckis is trying to tie in with Forrest Gump (DVD2755). Although the team from the original also worked largely on Here, two essential ingredients from Forrest Gump are missing: a gripping story and a darkly humorous undertone.
