- Adrian Goiginger's second film has become a philosophical Heimatfilm. By that I mean: a Heimatfilm about the big questions of life. It is the story of Elias, told in different time levels. At the beginning, the old Elias (Johannes Krisch) is hospitalised, and in 1968 the young Elias (Jakob Mader) sets off into the loneliness of the mountains. But the story begins in 1967, where Elias' decision to leave civilisation behind matures. He is the child of rich farmers from the Zillertal. He goes to boarding school, likes to read. His father, a patriarch, however, complains that his son has no ambition to become a farmer. It is a time when social changes take place elsewhere, but not in the mountains, and so Elias feels the pressure. He will inherit the farm one day, there is no way around that. When his father gives him an NSU, Elias goes to the village disco, where he meets the love of his life. Her name is Moid (Verena Altenberger). Moid, however, is not a proper bride. Elias falls into depression and is sent by his father to the mountain pasture Märzengrund to live in solitude. Elias does not want to leave this loneliness, and at the end of the summer he moves even higher up into the mountains... Fortunately, Märzengrund does not spare us with postcard shots of the mountains. On the contrary; nature seems inhospitable. How do I want to live? What have I lived for? May life simply be the sum of a refusal, a silent rebellion?
