Psychodelic (Pt. I)

Die Attentate auf Martin Luther King und Andy Warhol leiten das Ende der pdychodelischen Unschuld ein. Bereits El topo (1970) von Alejandro Jodorowsky ist ein düster mythischer Western und Francis Ford Coppolas Apocalypse now (1979) ist ein psychodelischer Vietnam Film, der mitten ins Herz der Finsternis führt. Wollte man The wizard of Oz und Alice in Wonderland (1951) als erste psychodelische Filme bezeichnen, wäre das ein boshaftes Kompliment, handelt es sich immerhin um anständige Disney Produktionen. Dennoch bieten die frühen psychodelischen Filme genau denselben Knallbonbon Effekt, als ob sie direkt im Kinderzimmer produziert wären. Alles, was nach fernöstlicher Kultur, Mythen und grellem Experimentalfilm aussieht, wird seitdem als psychodelisch bezeichnet und weist zurück in die 60er. Der Com puter ist der Schlüssel zum neuen psychodelischen Zeitalter: „den eigenen Geist zu handhaben, Hirnströme zu aktivieren - genau wie es auch LSD tut, nur besser...“ Während die Hippies an das Nirvana glaubten, wohin der Geist strebt, findet die Verschmelzung von Körper und Geist, Auflösung und Wiedergeburt nun jenseits der Wirklichkeit im Cyberspace statt. Nevertheless, the early psychedelic films offer exactly the same crackery effect as if they were produced directly in the children's room. Everything that looks like Far Eastern culture, myths and garish experimental film has since been described as psychedelic and points back to the 60s. The computer is the key to the new psychedelic age: "to handle one's own mind, to activate brain waves - just like LSD does, only better...". While the hippies believed in nirvana, where the mind strives, the fusion of body and mind, dissolution and rebirth now takes place beyond reality in cyberspace. The own virtual dream world is the New LSD.
