Doch im Gegensatz zum Freak oder Nerd hat sich der Geek vom negativen Image emanzipiert und teilt in der Internetgemeinschaft seine überschwängliche Liebe zur Film- und Popkultur. Durch das Internet wurde der Geek zur Subkultur. Der Geek ist eine Ausgeburt der Postmoderne und weiss enzyklopädisch viel über Filme und Artverwandtes.
