Blood Simple ist ein schlicht und ergreifend genialer Film. Alles, was geschieht, erscheint zwingend notwendig. Ein blutiger Albtraum, motiviert durch Gier und Geilheit. Die Handlung verläuft wie eine nach innen gerichtete Ellipse. Häh? Jedenfalls verdreht. Es gibt teuflisch komplexe Situationen und doch wirkt Blood Simple nicht einfach aufeinander geschichtet. Häh? Einfach konstruiert. Szenen wie die, da sich ein Mann in einem Raum befindet, während seine Hand in einem anderen Raum auf die Fensterbank genagelt wird, werden konsequent logisch vorbereitet. Sie machen Sinn in Blood Simple! Blood Simple war das Debüt der Coen Brothers; ein Sundance Film, der sie gleich als Meister der Handlung auswies. Ein Film, in dem sich alles logisch zusammenfügt und doch jedes einzelne Detail Rätsel aufgibt. Blood Simple ist ein moderner Film Noir. Ein sogenannter Neo Noir. Wie in den Vorbildern siehst du schmutzige Geschichten über schmierige Menschen. Sie alles sind gefangen in einem Netz aus Verrat und Missbrauch. Blood Simple scheut sich nicht vor Klischees (zum Beispiel; die nicht sterben wollende Leiche). Einer der schmierigen Menschen ist ein ungepflegter Bar-Besitzer, der seine Frau (Frances McDormand) und ihren Liebhaber (John Getz) töten lassen will. Von einem Privat-Detektiv. Der wiederum macht sich selbständig als Killer, denn wer lässt schon freiwillig lästige Zeugen am Leben? Und diese Geschichte entwickelt sich viel, viel komplizierter als du es erahnen könntest. Ständig tauchen Personen auf, die leben, obwohl sie längst unter der Erde sein müssten. Und noch mehr Leichen als erwartet. Psychologie gibt es keine. Stattdessen funktioniert Blood Simple wie eine geölte Maschine. Das Motiv: Überlebenswille. Wir bemerken: Blood Simple will gar nicht in der Realität spielen. Wir befinden uns in der Welt der Comics und billigen Romane. Eine Parodie auf den Film Noir ist das aber zum Glück nicht. Viel mehr ein echter Film Noir, nur eben besonders übertrieben! Das, was wir nicht glauben können, erscheint notwendig. Wie besagt, darin besteht das Genialische dieses kleinen Klassikers! - Blood Simple is a simple and moving ingenious film. Everything that happens seems absolutely necessary. A bloody nightmare, motivated by greed and lust. The plot runs like an inward ellipse. Huh? At least twisted. There are devilishly complex situations and yet Blood Simple doesn't just seem layered on top of each other. Huh? Simply constructed. Scenes like the one where a man is in one room while his hand is nailed to the windowsill in another room are prepared logically. They make sense in Blood Simple! Blood Simple was the debut of the Coen Brothers; a Sundance film that immediately identified them as masters of the plot. A film in which everything is logically put together and yet every single detail is puzzled. Blood Simple is a modern film noir. A so-called Neo Noir. As in the role models, you see dirty stories about greasy people. They are all trapped in a web of betrayal and abuse. Blood Simple is not afraid of clichés (for example, the corpse that doesn't want to die). One of the greasy people is an unkempt bar owner who wants his wife (Frances McDormand) and her lover (John Getz) killed. From a private detective. He, on the other hand, goes his own way as a killer, because who voluntarily lets annoying witnesses live? And this story develops much, much more complicated than you could have imagined. People are constantly appearing who live, although they should have been underground long ago. And even more corpses than expected. There is no psychology. Instead, Blood Simple works like an oiled machine. The motive: the will to survive. We notice: Blood Simple doesn't want to play in reality at all. We find ourselves in the world of comics and cheap novels. Fortunately, this is not a parody of the film Noir. Much more a real film noir, only especially exaggerated! What we cannot believe seems necessary. As said, this is the genius of this little classic!
