Väter und Töchter - Fathers and Daughters (2015) (Rating 6,7) DVD -

Seit Gabriel Muccino in Hollywood filmt, macht er diese Art von Filmen, bei denen Kritiker die Nase rümpfen, das Publikum aber schwelgen darf. Vier amerikanische Filme hat er nun gemacht und das Verhältnis von Eltern und Kindern ist das, was ihn am meisten zu beschäftigen scheint. Muccino erzählt seine Geschichte nicht chronologisch, sondern anhand von Momenten aus unterschiedlichen Zeiten. Kindheit und Erwachsenenalter durchkreuzen einander, ohne dass simple küchenpsychologische Bezüge hergestellt werden. Katie muss den Tod der Mutter verkraften, aber auch die Tatsache, dass sie nun von ihrer gefühlskalten und alkoholkranken Tante (Diane Kruger) adoptiert werden soll. Gegen den Willen des geliebten Vaters (Russel Crowe), der aber an Depressionen und epileptischen Anfällen leidet. Ein ehemals grosser Schriftsteller in der Krise (dessen Agentin immerhin von Jane Fonda gespielt wird). Die erwachsene Katie (gespielt nun von Amanda Seyfried) hat Bindungsängste und geht selten mit demselben zweimal ins Bett. Dann aber trifft sie einen Schriftsteller (Aaron Paul), der ein grosser Verehrer ihres Vaters ist... Persönliche Schicksale wiegen hier schwer in einem Film, der chronologisch erzählt womöglich ganz banal wirken würde? - Since Gabriel Muccino has been filming in Hollywood, he has made this kind of film in which critics turn up their noses but the audience is allowed to indulge. He has now made four American films and the relationship between parents and children is what seems to occupy him most. Muccino tells its story not chronologically, but through moments from different times. Childhood and adulthood cross each other without creating simple references to kitchen psychology. Katie has to cope with the death of her mother, but also the fact that she is now to be adopted by her emotionally cold and alcoholic aunt (Diane Kruger). Against the will of his beloved father (Russel Crowe), who suffers from depression and epileptic seizures. A former great writer in crisis (whose agent is played by Jane Fonda, after all). The adult Katie (now played by Amanda Seyfried) is afraid of commitment and seldom goes to bed with her twice. But then she meets a writer (Aaron Paul), who is a great admirer of her father... Personal fates weigh heavily here in a film that, told chronologically, might seem quite banal?
