A Man Of Integritiy untersucht die Auswirkungen der Korruption auf einen Mann, seine Familie und seine Ehre. Was, wenn ein ehrlicher Mann mit unhaltbaren moralischen Forderungen konfrontiert wird? Reza (Reza Akhlaghirad) hat mit seiner Frau Teheran verlassen, um den Sohn auf dem Land gross zu ziehen. Reza betreibt Fischzucht. Er züchtet auch einen Goldfisch, was ein Symbol des Wohlstandes ist. So erklärte mir das ein Kunde aus der Videothek. Jedenfalls lebt Reza nun dort, wo man als Zugezogener auch noch nach Jahrzehnten der "Fremde" bleibt. Da sich Reza weigert, Bestechungsgelder anzunehmen, begegnet man ihm sowieso mit Argwohn. Soziale Dienste aber sind ohne Schmiergeld praktisch nicht erreichbar. Eigentlich müsste auch Reza mit seinem Verkaufsstand Teil des Netzes von Korruption sein. Ist er aber nicht. Dann macht ihm ein grosser Konzern ein Angebot für sein Grundstück. Reza lehnt ab. Eines Tages wird das Wasser, das aus dem Versorgungskanal kommt, abgeschnitten. Rezas Fische sterben. Ein Netz aus Intrigen wird um Reza gesponnen. Er müsste einfach nur die Bestechungsgelder annehmen und der Spuk wäre vorbei. Doch nach einer Kette eskalierender Tragödien erkennt er seinen Wert in einem viel grösseren Spiel als es Reza vermutet hätte: Er gleicht der Figur des Bauern... P.S. What if an honest man is confronted with untenable moral demands? Reza (Reza Akhlaghirad) has left Tehran with his wife to raise his son in the country. Reza is a fish farmer.
