NOMADENKINO Do 23.Mai. um 20.45, Anomalie, Storkower Str. 123, 10407 Berlin sowie Di. 28. Mai um 21.00, About Blank, Markgrafendamm 24c, 10245 Berlin. - Brockdorf, Gorleben, Wackersdorf, the Hambach Forest - these are the places of the great citizen movements since the early 80s. They all have one thing in common: they have received a great deal of media attention. They function as symbols! And which forest is better suited as a symbol for the global climate? The old trees are juxtaposed with the gigantic moon landscape of lignite open-cast mining. And it looks like the apocalypse! Karin de Miguel Wessendorf has certainly seen enough dystopian films to effectively stage this landscape. Is this what our future looks like? Dead like a desert in "Mad Max"? We already know that the protests against the deforestation of the Hambach forest were successful. Now the path to success is once again traced on film. Since 2015, the filmmaker and activist from Barcelona has been on location with her camera. Besides shots of courts and committees, we see the protest trains and four protagonists in the middle. We are in the process of producing a documentary about our video store and a film needs such main characters! That's what we learned. One of them is called Lars. He lives with his family in a ghost town. This is supposed to give way to open-cast lignite mining, but Lars refuses to leave his home Immerath. Then we get to know the environmentalist Antje, who gets involved in the discourse about the Hambach forest. But above all, "The Red Line" is about feelings. This is served by "forest pedagogue" Michael, who leads visitors through the Hambach Forest and connects the large lines with each other: A hurricane in Texas, the landslide in the Alps, the Hambach Forest. A doomsday mood. High up in the treetop the activist "Clumsy" has built a tree house. This is illegal, which is why "Clumsy" wants to remain anonymous. However, "Clumsy" is not interested in "illegal" in connection with the Hambach forest. Or would there be voting rights for women without the suffragets setting the house of the British prime minister on fire? "Clumsy" has understood that the "right" is never assigned to you voluntarily. It has to be fought over. And "The Red Line" has understood that a good documentary does not necessarily have to be objective. Everything is presented from the perspective of the opponents of deforestation. Feelings instead of discourse! Only in passing do we learn that a journalist fell to his death at the time. Anyone who is not a friend of such "black-and-white" representations should rather watch an ARD documentary on the subject. This is Agitprop!
