Also nicht sehr gut. - I know that our colleagues Luanny and Lea watch Harry Potter every three weeks and consequently want to watch every new Fantastic Beasts on the first day in the cinema. In short, this is about addictive behaviour, which is why you have to evaluate the individual parts of the big picture differently. The most amazing part is the beginning. Lingering glances and the memories of a lost love. Stupidly, it then goes downhill. Fantastic Beasts is simply not very inspiring or involving. In other words, not very good. At least the third part is better than its predecessors. They all try to build on the Harry Potter success and yet they are all inferior. Of course, the Fantastic Beasts can also fly over Hogwart to the sounds of John Williams. There is a bit of fan service, but also TOO MANY characters, TOO MUCH plot and not enough magic. Everything is cluttered as the epic stumbles from plot strand to plot strand. It seems insanely exhausting to keep the J.K. Rowling alive! If you love the world of fantasy to escape reality, you're in the wrong place. Sure, there are some lovable creatures and a few laughs too. And some nicely whimsical sequences. But The Secrets of Dumbledore also tries to give us some serious themes that get lost somewhere between action and fun. This world, 70 years before Harry Potter, doesn't even offer a main character. We follow the romance of the young Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) with the burgeoning villain Gellert Grindelwald (Madds Mikkelsen instead of Johnny Depp). At least Grindelwald has some questionable ideas about how to deal with Muggles.... Who wouldn't have Berlin 1930 in mind, just before it began? Anyway, Dumbledore and his faithful must stop the Evil One. I won't mention these characters as they are all left undeveloped. The amazing thing, a whole part of the main plot remains unclear in this two-hour work. So to end this series well, a mighty dose of real magic is needed! Otherwise Luanny and Lea will be sad.
