- Please don't read on if you don't want to know if Spock is still alive at the end of Star Trek III! But if you think like me, you can be sure that Spock's chances of survival are 100%, because how else could you produce Part IV? We may therefore be relieved that the search and rebirth of Spock opens up a view of the complex "Vulcan" civilization. At the end Spock is allowed to raise his eyebrow and we are happy! The third Star Trek is something like a compromise between the first two. The first offered us solid special effects for that time, the second worked as a teaching piece of human nature and the limitations of human intelligence. That's why we love Star Trek! The third part now crosses philosophy and soap opera in space. There's a great enemy spaceship that looks like a monster bird nosedive. It is controlled by the somewhat dim-witted Klingon Kruge (the great Christopher Lloyd!). Meanwhile, the Enterprise is returning to Genesis to find and revive Spock. The alien spaceship also heads for Genesis to steal a super weapon (which was introduced in the last part) from there... It's a Western showdown! The best thing about the Star Trek movies is their similarity to the series. This also has an effect on the narrative fluid. Star Trek III does not have to explain that a Vulcan is a creature of pure logic, without emotions. We already know the characters and that's good! Science fiction is also something like home!
