- What must our "grown-up" world be like through the eyes of a pretty precocious girl? Absurd. One great pleasure and one great joy! You can already notice that during the title sequence with its whistling music! The plot can be neglected. Zazie (Catherine Demongeot), a little girl, comes to Paris. For the first time. Zazie's dream is to ride the subway (this is the Parisian subway). But it's not only NOT about action, it's not so much about acting. Zazie is a pop art masterpiece. Of course, girls like Zazie do not exist in the real world. She was only invented to give us pleasure! When you see the film for the first time, you realize how crazy it is. You always notice that Zazie is made. The protagonists look directly into the camera, the sets are fake and the lighting is artificial. I am a big fan of the idea of tying the camera to the bike and building camera ramps! I stole all these ideas for Lea and Katrin's film about our bar (which is currently being shot). With the mobile phone on the bike across Berlin, just like Louis Malle did in 1960. There is nothing kitschy about it and Malle has a particularly good feeling for the songs that are always spontaneously recorded. It's some strange kind of jazz. By the way, Zazie is actually a literary film adaption, namely the novel by Raymond Queneau. Queneau also experiments with all kinds of forms and Malle does justice to that. On principle; because this "craziness" only creates the world of a twelve-year-old girl. Not the world of a director. And because it was so much fun, the DVD can be inserted again right away!
